In my search for new album releases for this month, The Mowgli’s somehow snuck past me. Their third full-length album Where’d Your Weekend Go? will be released this Friday, September 30th!
Originating in sunny California, The Mowlgi’s are often referred to as “the quintessential California band”, which I find quite fitting. They focus on spreading positive vibes and messages through their “garage rock and 60’s Laurel Canyon folk sound”, according to their official website. The band is made up of Dave Appelbaum (keys/vocals), Jayne Earl (vocals), Josh Hogan (vocals/guitar), Colin Louis Dieden (vocals/guitar), Matthew Di Panni (bass/vocals), and Andy Warren (drums/percussion/vocals).
The Mowgli’s first album, Waiting For The Dawn (2013), climbed the Billboard Heatseekers chart to #4 and included their previously released song “San Fransisco”. In October 2012, iTunes featured “San Fransisco” as the Single Of The Week and their popularity took off from there. The song reached #11 on the Alternative Music Chart and climbed to #3 on the AAA Charts.
Their sophomore album, Kids In Love (2015), featured another feel-good hit song “I’m Good” which they originally wrote for an anti-bullying campaign. “I’m Good” also made it onto the Sirius XM Top Alt 18 List in 2015.
